Many children in our community lack access to books at home, making it harder for them to develop strong literacy skills. Studies show that children who grow up with books are more likely to succeed in school and beyond. That’s why we’re committed to making sure every child we serve has books to call their own.
A book is more than just words on a page—it’s an adventure waiting to happen, a lesson ready to be learned, and a future full of possibilities. Books for Bright Futures ensures that every child in our community has access to books, nurturing a love for reading and learning that lasts a lifetime.
Why It Matters
Reading is one of the most important skills a child can develop. It builds vocabulary, strengthens comprehension, and encourages creativity. But more than that, books give children confidence, knowledge, and a sense of belonging in the world. A child who reads is a child who dreams—and every dream deserves to be nurtured.
That’s why Books for Bright Futures was created: to bridge this gap by putting books directly into the hands of children who need them most. By ensuring access to books from an early age, we’re not just improving literacy rates—we’re opening doors to brighter futures.
How You Can Help
Do you have new or gently used children’s books looking for a new home? Book donations are at the heart of this program, allowing us to fill classrooms and homes with stories that inspire!
We especially need:
Board books and picture books for young readers
Chapter books for elementary and middle school students
High-interest books for reluctant readers to spark curiosity.
Once books are donated, they need to be sorted, categorized, and labeled before they can be given to children. Volunteers play a huge role in this process!
Volunteer tasks include:
Sorting books by age group and reading level
Checking for quality—making sure books are in good condition and appropriate for young readers
Grade leveling books using a simple system to ensure they are matched to the right age group
This behind-the-scenes work ensures that each child receives books that are engaging, developmentally appropriate, and fun!

All book donations can be dropped off at the Angels of Action office. If you’re donating multiple books, consider organizing them by age level to help us distribute them more efficiently.
