At Angels of Action, we believe that no child should ever have to go to bed hungry—but for many children in Mecosta & Osceola Counties, hunger isn’t just a passing worry; it’s a harsh reality.

This is the very reason Angels of Action was founded—to stand in the gap, to be the hands and feet of love, and to make sure that no child in our community goes without food when school doors close for the weekend.

Backpack Blessings is more than just a program; it’s the heart of our mission. It’s the reason we exist.

For over 1,400 children across 35 schools and Head Start programs, school meals provide the only consistent nourishment they receive. But when Friday afternoon comes, the reality of an empty fridge, a growling stomach, and a weekend without food sets in. That’s where Backpack Blessings steps in—with love, with care, and with a backpack full of hope.

What’s Inside a Backpack Blessing?

Every Friday, children in need receive a backpack filled with nutritious, easy-to-eat food so they don’t have to face the weekend hungry:

Milk & Juice for nourishment
Two Breakfast Foods for a strong start to the day
Two Lunch Foods for energy and growth
Two Snack Foods to keep them going

Every week, our dedicated volunteers pack these bags with love, ensuring that each child heads home with more than just food—they carry the security of knowing they have been seen, that someone cares, that they are not alone.
